Part of the national Easterseals organization, Easterseals Serving Central Texas promotes independence and creates opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This organization strives to change the way the world “defines, views, and treats” disabilities and is working toward being recognized as the leading provider of services for people with disabilities. To achieve its goals, Easterseals Serving Central Texas has established a set of core values that it adheres to throughout its work. These core values are innovation, passion, integrity, quality, and collaboration. Easterseals Serving Central Texas was first established as the Texas Society for Crippled Children in 1937. Through the years, this organization grew and expanded its services and finally became an affiliate of the Easterseals in 1985.

Currently, Easterseals Serving Central Texas serves more than 8,500 people of all ages throughout central Texas with a variety of “person-centered” services and support. Those receiving care by Easterseals Serving Central Texas face a variety of disabilities such as developmental and learning delays; autism; speech, language, and hearing disorders; mental illness; sensory processing disorders; stroke; amputation; head trauma; spinal cord injury; cerebral palsy; polio; spina bifida; muscular dystrophy; and other genetic disorders which put individuals at risk for developmental delay.

Services offered by Easterseals Serving Central Texas are focused on several areas that create the most benefit for clients from birth through old age. Service areas include outpatient medical rehabilitation, community and housing services, and workforce development. In the past, Easterseals Serving Central Texas has supported work flexibility by hiring for temporary and part-time jobs.
