Located in Baltimore, Maryland, the National Aquarium is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the conservation of aquatic wildlife. Through science-based education programs, engaging living collections, and hands-on research and conservation experiences, the National Aquarium aims to contribute to the preservation and protection of the planet’s animals and habitats.

The first public aquarium in the United States, the National Aquarium was initially established in 1973 in Wood’s Hole, Massachusetts. Today, the Aquarium can be found in Baltimore’s inner harbor and features over 20,000 fish, marine mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds. The Aquarium’s renowned Blacktip Reef exhibit replicates an Indo-Pacific reef and is home to over 700 animals, including a school of blacktip reef sharks.

In addition to its exhibits, the National Aquarium is also involved in numerous conservation and research efforts, including the National Aquarium Animal Rescue program, the Terrapins in the Classroom Program, and projects in the Chesapeake Bay, among many others. The Aquarium also aims to make its location in downtown Baltimore a model for a sustainable urban waterfront, combining new technologies with natural restoration to support enhancements of the local environment. In the past, the National Aquarium has hired for part-time jobs and seeks candidates who share the organization's core values of integrity, innovation, service, excellence, and engagement.
