JDRF is a Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) research center leading the world in charity and advocacy to further the cause of diabetes science. The nonprofit organization is headquartered in New York, New York, and was founded in 1970 under the name Juvenile Diabetes Foundation by a group of parents who had children with Type 1 diabetes to fundraise for research efforts. The name was later changed to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to emphasize the organization's efforts in ending the disease. More recently, the organization changed its name to JDRF to reflect the knowledge that children and adults are equally impacted by T1D.
As an employer, JDRF looks for candidates who are passionate about nonprofit work, as well as conducting diabetes research and helping others. In the past, JDRF has offered flexible work arrangements in the form of part-time, temporary, and remote jobs, including full-time opportunities, in locations across the United States and abroad.
JDRF’s mission is to find "accelerating, life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat T1D.” In order to support this mission, JDRF partners with established corporations, such as Ford, Accu-Chek, Delta, Discover, Lilly, Coca-Cola, and Walgreens. The diabetes organization also funds research and clinical trials, offers resources to T1D patients, and sponsors fundraising and awareness events.
